WELCOME TO DALTON VINEYARD

Dalton Vineyard was founded in 2001 by Jim Dalton, inspired by his daughter's words, "Dad, you loved two things in life, gardening and wine. Why don't you go out and start a vineyard or something."

Jim worked hard and bulldozed over 30 acres of land at the turn of the century to make his vision a reality. By 2005, the vineyard's syrah had been made into an award-winning wine at the California state fair (double gold). Jim had a team consisting of fine wine-makers and an excellent vineyard manager. When Jim passed away in 2010, his daughter stepped in to be the steward of the Dalton Vineyard, determined to keep the love of the vine alive.

Philosophy
Dalton Vineyard's founder, James Dalton had always wanted to be known as a "gentleman farmer." And he was. Dalton was almost obsessive about quality and letting the grapes have their "struggle." He said grapes that struggle tend to have more character than those who don't. Much like people. Dalton Vineyard grapes have gained a reputation for being some of the best in Calaveras County.

Tours & Events
Enjoy the picturesque vines and scrub oak trees nestled upon the rolling golden hills of Calaveras County. Upon the Dalton Vineyard sits a Victorian style ranch home dating back to 1900. It was remodeled in 2001 and the gardens are spectacular. To schedule a tour or a special event, please contact us.
